Energy Star - A joint energy efficiency project launched by the US Environmental Protection Agency and the Energy Agency to save money and protect the environment through energy efficient products and energy efficiency practices.
Currently, the ENERGY STAR logo has appeared on major home appliances, office equipment, lighting, home electronics and other products. The EPA also extends the logo to new residential and commercial and industrial buildings.
From January 1, 2011, manufacturers applying for the ENERGY STAR logo must submit a certificate and test report issued by an authorized certification body and testing organization to the EPA. The test report should include product specifications and standards. Detailed test data required.
